CHRISTUS addresses possible Obamacare replacement

With the U.S. House of Representatives having already passed a bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, many hospitals are worried that having fewer people covered by either an expansion of private health insurance or by Medicaid will diminish their ability to provide patient care.

The House passed the American Health Care Act in March. The Senate is deliberating its own version of Obamacare replacement at this time, currently called the Better Care Reconciliation Act. 

Although Texas did not opt to expand Medicaid coverage, federal insurance exchanges did offer previously uninsured people in the state relatively low-cost insurance. This is especially true in rural areas such as Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County.
