Students give new show, music a high ‘5’

Sulphur Springs High School Marching Band is already hard at work preparing for this year’s half-time and competitive shows, which students and instructors report will be a little bit different.

Each year, the band holds practice weeks before school starts, in order to be ready for their first performance. The percussion section, however, puts in even more time perfecting their part of the routine.

Both the marching and front ensemble percussionists were hard at work all week, reporting from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for practice outside, then again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for indoor practices. The percussionists will be joined next week by the color guard, with the rest of the band scheduled to start beginning in August.
