Just because it’s summer time and “The Edge” is taking a break, doesn’t mean Sulphur Springs athletes are sleeping late and goofing off.
Still weeks from the opening game in volleyballl, incoming freshman Eliana Johnson is doing weight training to prepare for the year.
Johnson said, “I’m excited for volleyball and I want to get in good shape.”
Johnson also cheers and competes on the track team.

Returning grid standout seniors Logan Caton and D’Idrec Dugan were spotting each other and talking about the final football season as they worked out.
Caton said,”We’re doing the bench, squat, front squat and hang cling and other lifts. I like the bench the best.”
“Dugan agreed, “I like the bench press the best too. I want to be strong enough to move somebody at the line bigger than me.”
Caton said, “I also like working out to relieve stress. I want to get bigger and better for football season. It;s good to lift here with teammates. We are working together for a common goal.”
Tenth graders Cameron Kaufert and Zach Tiemeyer were workout out  together and said they like coming to the weight room.
Tiemeyer said, “I enjoy working out and knowing that I am getting better for football season. I really like lifting: my favorite is the hang cling or the back squat.”
Kaufert added, “I do the weight training because I did not want to lose the level of conditioning I had built up during ‘The Edge.’”
“I like working on the bench and I know I have gotten stronger and improved,” said Kaufert.
Jaxon Reneau said, “When I work out it makes me feel better, it gives me a good feeling. I know I am getting better and staying in shape.”
